A Bong or rig that resembles a beaker used in laboratories and has a flat, flared bottom. In contrast to round-based bongs, which can fall over and break more easily if unintentionally bumped, pieces with a beaker base are extremely stable and unlikely to tip over.

The Wider Base works in favour of smoother hits as well.  This is because there is more water, a large chamber that produces larger bubbles resulting in more filtration.  Voila- a much smoother hit.
